Sony Xperia 5 II is here; one of Sony’s flagship phones in the Xperia family. This device is a closer but cut down version of the Xperia 1 II, which was launched earlier this year. With a few corners like price cut, it gives a slightly smaller but compact device that doesn’t lose its power and force in the Xperia family.
The Sony Xperia 5 II was revealed on the 17th of September 2020 by Sony via an online event. Though the smartphone is not going to be available until mid-October, its specifications and price were worth the announcement. While the specifications are lovable, how does it fit against 2020 flagship devices in the same range or level? How would it rank against a Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G or Huawei P40 Pro+…
Sony Xperia 5 II comes in Black, Pink, Blue, and Grey colour options. With 6.1-inch display, 1080 x 2520 pixels resolution and an aspect ratio of 21:9. It measures 158 x 68 x 8 mm in dimension with 163g in weight. It’s a sleek design that fits into the hand. Not so large to hold, neither small, especially in comparison to Samsung Note20 Ultra and Huawei P40 Pro+ which have above 6.5 inches display.

With recent phones using the Android 10 operating system, Sony Xperia 5 II is also expected to launch with Android 10. It packs 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage options with micro memory card slot present for expansion up to 1TB. Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra beats this, with its 12GB RAM, 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage options and memory card slot.
Some may consider its 4000mAh battery to be a downside, but with the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset powering this device, energy or battery maintenance is improved and can be quite durable. It supports 21W fast charging. Possible to get 50% charge in 30 minutes and full charge in about 1 hour of charging.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ is a flagship processor used on Sony Xperia 5 II, with improved speed and performance that beats Kirin 990 SoC used on Huawei P40 Pro+.

Rumours have it that Sony Xperia 5 II is a smartphone designed with photography in focus, not exactly for matching competitors’ perk-for-perk. This doesn’t exactly come as a surprise because Sony makes amazing Camera hardware.
The rear camera on Sony Xperia 5 II includes 12MP + 12MP + 12MP triple setup. With f/1.7 aperture, f/2.4 aperture and f/2.2 aperture respectively, and auto focus. The front camera is an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2 aperture.
Sony Xperia 5 II comes with the various sensors; which include fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensor. The cost of Sony Xperia 5 II is $799 in the US but with the move to add 5G. Newer models might cost an extra 100 bucks.
