The new iMac Pro has been one of the most rumoured Apple computers for some time now. And after seeing redesigns and improvements to other Mac models, it looks like there’s still more to come, as the company is still working on it.
In March 2021, the iMac Pro will be discontinued. A year later, in March 2022, Apple discontinued the 27-inch iMac with Intel, leaving the 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip as the only iMac model available.
Some time later, there was talk of a refresh for the discontinued iMac Pro. This new version would arrive with other Mac models in 2022. However, it was later mentioned that its arrival would never happen. Something that evidently discouraged many, as there were no further details about its release until recently, when details about this iMac Pro and its processor were revealed.

But a few hours ago, Mark Gurman, an important leaker and Apple specialist, mentioned that the company is still working on the iMac Pro with a larger screen and a very powerful chip, a computer for the professional market.
In the latest episode of Power On, Gurman said that Apple is working on at least two iMac models, in which it would likely implement the upcoming M3 chips. These new computers would be an updated 24-inch iMac with the standard M3 chip in 2023 and an iMac Pro.
I also continue to believe that Apple is working on a larger-screen iMac aimed at the professional market. I imagine this will use a variation of the M3 chip, probably an M3 Pro and an M3 Max. That would match the chips inside the MacBook Pro. I don’t think the combination of a Mac Studio or Mac mini plus an Apple Studio display will cut it for many professional users who want more screen real estate. “
Gurman is known for being very assertive and careful with his words. This could be very important when talking about one of Apple’s upcoming computers that has kept users and fans in suspense the most. We’ll see what happens, but for now, the new 24″ MacBook Air with the M2 processor will be available for purchase on July 15th.
