Apple has always been committed to a wireless future. It is the Cupertino company that is driving the popularity of wireless charging by syncing all its devices via Wi-Fi and the cellular network. Earlier, the prefix Apple TV became one of the first devices with which you could transfer the screen from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the TV. At that time, the technology was still a bit raw; there were frequent disconnections, but over time everything has stabilized.

And as the technology evolves, air game along with the update iOS 16 and watchOS 9, Apple launched the opportunity to show the Apple Watch screen on the iPhone. The most interesting thing is that the functionality is not limited to displaying an image. Let’s see how the innovation works and why this might be necessary.
AirPlay on the Apple Watch

Apple has developed wireless interaction between them for more than one generation of its devices. And in the last two years technology air game experienced significant further development. Last year, with the release of iOS 15 and macOS Monterey, the opportunity arose Show a picture on a Mac computer screen from an iPhone or iPad. We talked about that in a separate article. In the same year, Cupertino went even further. Now it is possible Show an image on an iPhone from the Apple Watch. And not only display an image, but interact with the watch via the smartphone screen.
This feature is originally declared as part of universal access. Not every user will be able to find it there, so I assume it was clearly not made for everyday use since it is hidden so deeply. Unfortunately, not all Watch models support the new feature. Here’s a list of Apple Watch that can display images on iPhone:
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch Series 7
The rest of the models rolled by. Many people have a question in this regard. Why do you need to display an alarm clock screen on the smartphone? Actually, it has an application. For example, if you teach someone how to use the Apple Watch, then it is much more convenient to do this with the iPhone. After all, all the actions you perform on the iPhone will be performed on the watch. Thanks to this innovation, it is finally possible. Take a screenshot of the Apple Watch screen to demonstrate some applications or functions. Often a screenshot doesn’t convey everything you want to show, but it will be a whole video. In general, there are more options for interaction between the iPhone and Apple Watch.
Mirroring Apple Watch to your iPhone

To use the new feature, you must meet several conditions:
Please note that iOS 16 and watchOS 9 are currently only in beta. These versions of the operating system are not stable and can cause problems with device performance. If iOS 16 is a relatively painless rollback to iOS 15, then such a feint does not work with watchOS 9. Therefore, we do not recommend installing beta versions on the main devices. If you decide to install them, don’t forget to make backups. Here’s a detailed guide on how to install iOS 16 Beta on your iPhone.
To turn on screen mirroring of the Apple Watch on the iPhone, do the following:
- Make sure your Apple Watch on watchOS 9 is paired with your iPhone on iOS 16.
- On the iPhone, open the settings.
- Go to the “Universal Access” section.
- Go to “Apple Watch Mirroring” and enable the switch.
After that, a picture of a clock will appear at the bottom, and a screen will appear after a few seconds. Please note that the Wheel Digital Crown and the Power button on the iPhone screen are also clickable and perform their direct functions. The good news is that Apple continues to develop AirPlay 2 between its devices. Let’s hope there will be more new capabilities as time goes on. Hopefully, in the near future it will be possibile to display iPhone screen to iPad.
