How to flash FTF firmware on Sony Xperia phones

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for flashing stock FTF firmware on your Sony Xperia smartphone using Flashtool.
Requirements:
- Xperia FTF firmware - Find yours
- Flashtool (v0.9.18.6) - Download
Flashing Procedure:
Step 1: Install Flashtool
Run the downloaded Flashtool software and complete the installation.
Step 2: Install Drivers
Navigate to C:\Flashtool\drivers
and install both the flashmode
and Xperia
drivers.
Step 3: Prepare Firmware
Copy the downloaded .ftf
firmware file to C:\Flashtool\firmwares
.
Step 4: Launch Flashtool
In C:\Flashtool
, run Flashtool.exe
(32-bit) or Flashtool64.exe
(64-bit).
Step 5: Select Flashing Mode
Click on the lightning bolt icon, then select "Flashmode".
Step 6: Choose Firmware
From the 'Firmware Selector' popup, select your downloaded firmware and click "Flash".
Step 7: Enter Flashmode
- Disconnect your Xperia device if it's connected to the computer.
- Power off the device.
- Press and hold the flashmode button combination for your device.
- While holding the button(s), connect the device to the PC via USB.
Step 8: Flashing Process
The flashing process will begin automatically. Wait for it to complete.
Step 9: Reboot
Once flashing is complete, disconnect and reboot your Xperia device if it doesn't restart automatically.
