HMD Skyline: Leaked Specs and Expected Release

HMD is expanding its smartphone offerings with a new device aimed at the upper mid-range market. This phone, rumored to be called the HMD Skyline, has been spotted in several listings, revealing key details about its features and potential price.

The Skyline, carrying the model number TA-1688, has been listed by a retailer in a sleek Black color option. This listing confirms earlier rumors of 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The listed price is 539 Euros (approximately 582 USD), but this could be a placeholder and may change upon release.

Expected Specifications

While concrete details are limited, previous leaks suggest the HMD Skyline will feature a FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. Powering the device is likely to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, known for its reliable performance.

Photography enthusiasts can look forward to a triple rear camera setup. This setup is rumored to include a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP sensor for macro shots or depth sensing. A 32MP front-facing camera is expected to handle selfies.

Other notable features based on leaks include a substantial 4900mAh battery with 33W fast charging, Android 14 OS, IP67 dust and water resistance, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers.

With multiple listings appearing, the release of the HMD Skyline seems imminent. One listing even indicates an estimated delivery date between August 9th and August 11th. This timeline points to a potential announcement sometime in July.
