Chipolo, a company known for creating smartphone accessories, now offers trackers compatible with the Find My Device network. This means you can locate lost items without needing others to use a specific app. As long as your Android device has Google Play services and runs Android 9 or higher, using the trackers is simple.

Setting up the Chipolo One Point and Card Point trackers is incredibly easy. Just press the button on the tracker and it will automatically begin pairing with your device and activate the Find My Device network. You can name your tracker, assign an icon, and you’re ready to go. Attach it to your keys, wallet, or anything else you want to track, and use the Find My Device app to locate it.

The hardware itself is well-designed. The One Point, for example, has a loop hole for easy attachment and a user-replaceable battery. While the Card Point’s battery isn’t replaceable, it should last for two years. While both trackers are well-made, there are limitations.

Although visually appealing, the Find My Device app can be difficult to use. Its abstract shapes, meant to guide users to their lost items, can be confusing. Additionally, the app struggles with accuracy. For example, it may indicate you're close to a tracker even after you've moved away.

While Chipolo claims a 200 feet range for the trackers, real-world performance often falls short, especially in areas with obstacles or crowds. The Find My Device network, still in its early stages, isn't robust enough to deliver consistent results.

The Chipolo trackers do have some redeeming qualities. Their speakers are sufficiently loud, making it easier to locate nearby items. However, the lack of “left behind” notifications, a feature available with competitors, is a significant drawback.

Overall, the Chipolo One Point and Card Point trackers, while adequate for basic needs, leave much to be desired. The limited functionality of the Find My Device app and the spotty performance of the Find My Device network make it difficult to wholeheartedly recommend these trackers.
