As we wait patiently for the announcement and release of iPhone 12; Apple just recently announced the all new iPad Air (2020) or iPad Air 4, during its September event. A tablet that is likely to literally take your breath away. Maybe! Alongside its announcement was Apple Watch Series 6.
Apple redesigned and upgraded the iPad Air 4, and has planned its release to consumers later in October. There seems to be such high expectations from the Apple community, and the hope of meeting these expectations are also high. What exactly should you expect from this device?
The unveiling of the iPad Air 4 (2020) revealed a new full screen design just like the iPad Pro, without a home button, but features some soft edge buttons that delivers a modern look. It has flat edges, and there is this lovable feel that comes with it. It has one rear 12MP wide camera, able to shoot 4k videos and capable of slow-motion recording, with 7MP front camera.

The display size is 10.9-inches, which is the smallest size in iPad Pro models. It packs features like Apple’s True Tone display tech- which auto-tweaks and adjusts the display according to the environment or the ambient light in the surrounding. That gives the display an improvement as it sets the brightness and display to fit and capable of adjusting to light from its surrounding. It also has 500 nits of brightness with anti-reflecting coating, against glare and rays reflection.
Subsequently, the iPad Air 4 features Apple’s proprietary Liquid Retina display tech; this is a crystal display and the updated version of LCD technology. It has a very high resolution display and the technology allows the display to stretch in the corners of the device. iPad Air 4 also has 2360 x 1640 resolution.
Compared to the normal pricing of Apple devices, the new iPad Air 4 is quite affordable, despite it using the latest A14 processor which is super fast. It is the first device to use Apple’s proprietary chip, the A14 Bionic chip. This chip has a 6-core architecture, 11.8 billion transistors, 16–core Neural Engine with an 11 trillion operation per second performance, and 4-core graphics. This means 30% improvement in graphics, CPU speed bump of up to 40% in comparison to the A12 processor in 2019 Air.
iPad Air 4 might not exactly have matched the internal storage options on the iPad Pro, but its 256GB is good enough. It’s also got external storage option, which can be achieved on the all new iPadOS 14 and USB-C connection port.
The battery of the tablet offers up to 10 hours of video streaming and surfing the web, this means a whole day of excitement. The iPad Air 4 will be sold in Sky Blue, Green, Rose Gold, Silver and Space Gray colour options.
iPad Air 4 still retains the use of Apple Pencil 2, maybe due to its perfect cylindrical shape; the lightning port, magnetic attachment; which allows the stylus to dock to the side and charge wirelessly. It also has a USB-C port with the aim to make easier data transfer and faster charging. The iPad Air is compatible with magic keyboard; has a fingerprint sensor built into a button on the side, which is different from other slates of Apple devices that had home button on the front.

It also has a pair of great sounding stereo speakers. Though not as fantastic as the iPad Pro’s quad speakers.
iPad Air 4 costs roughly about $600 USD, which is a Pro-level device given for that price. This is quite affordable, if you’re very familiar Apple pricing.
